Margaret Rawlings & Pete Rawlings

Margaret

Margaret Rawlings (GTCL LTCL PGCE) studied piano and french horn at Trinity College of Music, before going on to teacher training at Goldsmiths College. Since then, in a career spanning more than 30 years, she has taught piano, various brass instruments, recorder and music theory to thousands of students.

She is the author of the Student Brass and Student Recorder series of books and websites.

Margaret holds the 2nd trombone position in the Harworth Brass Band.

Pete

Pete Rawlings’ path into teaching was the exact opposite of Margaret’s. He had no formal music education, preferring to try and figure things out for himself, while getting as much experience as possible from playing in bands.

Eventually, the limitations of this approach became painfully apparent, and he realised that he needed help to fill in the gaps in his musical knowledge. He is now a firm believer in the importance of music lessons!

Pete is a member of the Musician’s Union.
